SEÑOR STO. NIÑO DE CEBU VISITS MANILA

The pilgrim image of Snr. Sto. Nino de Cebu arrived last August 14 2015, at NAIA Terminal 2 which was followed by a motorcade to Quirino Grandstand, Luneta. A public veneration was held there and was later transferred to the Parish of the Immaculate Conception, San Agustin Church in Intramuros, Manila.

At 12 noon, a Mass was held at the patio of the San Agustin Church presided by His Eminence, Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, the Archbishop of Manila and concelebrated by the Augustinian Priests of Intramuros and Cebu. After the mass, many devotees expressed their devotion to the Holy Child which is also a sign of the Christianization of the country. Later that afternoon, there was a procession and ati-atihan around Intamuros. After which, a Night with Sto. Nino was held at the patio of San Agustin Church which was attended by numerous devotees around the metro.

Bringing Cebu to Manila

Last August 15, the pilgrim image went to BASECO Compound, Port Area Manila to be venerated at the Chapel of Sto. Nino de BASECO, which is the principal patron of the said community. Dance presentations and Sinulog festivities were prepared for the expected coming.  Other activities such as Film Viewing and Evangelization took place that afternoon before it was transferred to the Manila Cathedral. Also in the afternoon of August 15, there was a 450TH KAPLAG Conference at NCAA Auditorium at Intramuros, Manila.

The morning of August 16 started with a farewell mass at the Manila Cathedral presided by the newly installed rector, Rev. Fr. Reginald Malicdem. After the mass, the crowd prepared for a foot procession at Plaza Mexico and later for the Fluvial Procession at Pasig River going to Guadalupe Viejo in Makati City. The image would be transferred to the Nuestra Señora de Gracia Parish and will go back to Cebu after its pilgrimage to Biñan, Laguna.

The 450th KAPLAG Pilgrimage was organized by the National Confradia de Sto. Niño de Cebu and the Order of Saint Augustine and was assisted by the City Government of Manila and Makati as well as the Metro Manilia Development Authority (MMDA), Intramuros Administration (IA), National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA), and private sectors and individuals.
